The celebrated Swedish haircare brand hosted a buzzy party to fete its refreshed brand identity, and the opening of its reimagined Stockholm flagship salon. Below, browse all the snapshots from the star-studded night
In 1963, pioneering Swedish hairdresser Björn Axén, favoured by royals and celebrities alike, established his namesake salon in the heart of Stockholm. Axén’s craft – rooted in haute coiffure, later extending to a range of salon-quality, cruelty-free haircare products – laid the foundation for what would become one of Sweden’s leading haircare brands and salons. Helmed today by Johan Hellström, not only is Björn Axén a sought-after professional haircare destination, but it has also become a familiar fixture across fashion weeks, from Copenhagen to Paris.
Now, after the countless hair refreshes it has dreamt up, Björn Axén is due for a revamp of its own, as it ushers in a new era with an updated brand identity, and a renewed flagship salon. “Björn Axén has always evolved with the times while staying true to the values that built the brand,” says Hellström. “As we continue to grow internationally and reach a new generation of consumers, it felt important that every part of the brand reflected who we are today: a modern Scandinavian haircare company rooted in professional expertise.” The refresh, he continues, isn’t about changing the core of the brand, “but expressing it more clearly and consistently for the future… We wanted to honour our history, while creating a stronger platform for what comes next.”

Scandinavian sophistication and simplicity guided Hellström’s vision for Björn Axén’s updated look, coming to life in its refined logo, sharpened design language, and continued use of blue – a longtime signature of the brand. “We reinterpreted it in a modern way, drawing inspiration from both our royal heritage and the Swedish summer sky,” he notes. Describing the new era as “a confident evolution,” for Hellström, the brand’s new chapter feels “more elevated, more contemporary and more international, while remaining unmistakably Björn Axén.” “It reflects the ambition we have for the brand, and the growing role we want to play within Scandinavian haircare,” he adds.
To celebrate this milestone, the brand invited a star-studded guest list to raise a glass at its newly renovated flagship salon on Norrlandsgatan 7. In attendance were Scandinavian royals, alongside friends of the brand and Nordic tastemakers including Darja Barannik, Jeanette Madsen, Victoria Silverstedt, Verona Farrell, and Lena Olin. While Champagne flowed, and haircare-inspired snacks were circulated, guests explored the revamped space, complete with a striking, hair-adorned chair created by Peter Hägelstam, the hairstylist to Queen Silvia of Sweden.

Playing into Hellström’s new direction for the brand, crisp, clean lines and a calming, neutral palette permeate the reimagined flagship. Elegant and inviting, it’s a hub for discovery, creativity and relaxation. “For us, great haircare begins with the professional salon experience. Our vision was to create a truly five-star experience where every detail feels considered, from the environment to the expertise and personal service,” says Hellström. “The renewed flagship brings together our heritage, our education, our services and our products in one destination.”
The evening continued with an exquisite dinner under the sweeping, white vaults of art gallery CFHill, complemented by a captivating performance by Swedish artist Keisha Muisyo.
Now that the brand has entered this fresh era, what does Hellström wish its future will look like? “Our ambition is to continue building Björn Axén into the leading Scandinavian haircare brand, and we see significant opportunities internationally,” he says. “At the same time, growth is only meaningful if we stay true to who we are. We will continue to invest in innovation and develop exceptionally high-quality products that remain accessible and offer real value.”
