For the last couple of years, Benjamin Ingrosso has been busy in the studio, and now he’s finally ready to show the audience what he’s been working on. Ahead of the release of his new double single, Vogue Scandinavia got to visit him in the studio to get a glimpse into his process
It’s mid July, and Stockholm is having one of its warmest days of the summer. Every single Swede seems to be out on the streets enjoying the sun, but not Benjamin Ingrosso. He has been holed up in the studio for weeks and doesn’t plan on doing much else for the summer until he has a finished album. “We’ve been writing and producing in Los Angeles for the last few months, but now I’ve brought my American producers here. I wanted to finish the music in Sweden, where I feel at home”, he explains.
RMV Studio, which is owned by none other than ABBA’s Benny Andersson, is located on the idyllic island Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm. The mixing table is covered in colorful photos that Ingrosso tells us are the mood board for the music he’s working on. “It’s been a very, very long process. This new music is two years in the making, and I’m kind of nervous to release it. It feels very special, and I’m really fucking excited”, he says as he shows us around the studio.
The first songs to be released are the double single 'Funny Feeling' and 'Waste My Time'. “I really just wanted to put out two songs at the same time because for me, it’s been such a long time. 'Waste My Time' is about knowing that someone you love will never choose yet you knowingly let them waste your time cause you enjoy being with the person even if it's not good for you, and then the aftermath of trying to move on from that. 'Funny Feeling' is more about a journey and being in the middle of a sticky situation, and how you would interpret it, that’s up to you”, he says.
