Baum und Pferdgarten - SS22

By Allyson Shiffman

This season Baum und Pferdgarten looked to Finland and famous architect Alvar Aalto for inspiration

Nothing says Spring/Summer like a pool, which was precisely the starting point for Baum und Pferdgarten’s SS22 collection. Not just any pool, mind you, but the lyrical, organic iterations by masterful Finnish modernist architect Alvar Aalto. The collection serves as a continuation from the Danish brand’s Pre-Spring offering, which also drew inspiration from Finland.

Aalto’s singular aesthetic, including his iconic Savoy Vases — found in the home of nearly every design-minded Scandinavian — is reflected both in the fluid silhouettes and the slick materials. Dresses fashioned in shiny synthetic crepe mirror the water’s surface and psychedelic silk satin frocks float around the body. Sportier elements — the bodysuits and leggings — anchor an otherwise romantic offering.

To add to the feel-good energy of the collection, it also features a pride capsule, emblazoned with the words "Love Und Understanding". The proceeds of these items, already available for purchase, goes to ILGA Europe.
