Ash K Holm, the half-Swedish makeup artist behind some of Hollywood’s most famous faces, crafted a soft and sultry glam for Camila Cabello at the 2026 Academy Museum Gala, underscoring its enduring appeal. Here, just in time for party season, Holm exclusively breaks down how she created the ‘90s-inspired look

If there’s one makeup look that’s guaranteed to make an impact – whether on the red carpet, or at, say, a Christmas or New Year’s party – it’s soft, sultry glam. Case in point? Camila Cabello’s 2026 Academy Museum Gala makeup, dreamt up by half-Swedish face architect Ash K Holm, whose clients include Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan and Ariana Grande.

For the star-studded red carpet that unfolded this past weekend, Cabello, styled by Ronnie Hart, donned a black, figure-hugging look plucked from Dolce & Gabbana’s spring/summer ‘98 collection, comprising a satin corset paired with a gauzy mermaid skirt. The glam followed suit, with Holm drawing inspiration from “a beautiful mix of ’90s Kate Moss and classic Penélope Cruz.” “For me, the hair, makeup, and fashion should always tell one cohesive story,” she adds. “With Camila’s vintage Dolce & Gabbana look, I knew I wanted the makeup to have that nostalgic ’90s energy while still feeling modern and fresh.”
