Alicia Vikander and her longtime stylist, Victoria Sekrier, know their way around a red carpet. Here, the stylist breaks down all of Vikander’s excellent looks for the 2025 Venice Film Festival

The looks at this year’s Venice Film Festival have been unmissable (Jonathan Anderson’s first Dior couture! An Amanda Seyfried and Julia Roberts Versace rerun! Jacob Elordi!) and the fashion moments served by Alicia Vikander were no exception. Arriving at the Lido to present The Wizard of the Kremlin, a political satire co-starring Jude Law as Vladimir Putin in the final years of the Soviet Union (the film received a 10 minute standing ovation at its premiere), Vikander proved once again that a festival absolutely loves to see her coming.

This is thanks in no small part to longtime stylist Victoria Sekrier. Having worked with Vikander for about a decade, Sekrier knows how to craft looks that are both on-brand for the Swedish actor and delightfully unexpected. Yes, we know Vikander is going to opt for Louis Vuitton for her big red carpet moment (she’s been an ambassador for the brand since 2015, even wearing a standout drop-waisted frock from the house’s spring/summer 2022 collection on the cover of this magazine – also styled by Sekrier), and Vikander’s Vuitton moment in Venice was a real show-stopper – a masterclass in Hollywood glamour and proof that she’s an enduring style star. Her in-between looks, meanwhile, embraced her Swedishness: minimal, effortless and utterly cool.

Below, Sekrier breaks down all of Vikander’s fashion moments at the 2025 Venice Film Festival.

Arriving in Venice

Every seasoned film festival attendee knows the looks begin the moment one steps off the plane. Arriving in Venice, Alicia wore a Ferragamo trench and slip dress and simple Aeyde flats. Her accessories, of course, were Louis Vuitton; she wore a scarf from the house in her hair, ideal airport sunglasses and the new Express bag. Her earrings, meanwhile, were courtesy of British brand Otiumberg.

“We love the idea of playing on the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine elements in Alicia’s looks and this Ferragamo look is no exception,” says Sekrier. “Taking something like an oversized trench coat and layering it over the delicate silk and lace top and skirt set creates this effortless and sensual look as if something that was borrowed from a boyfriend. it’s very Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. being the LV ambassador we wanted to lean into the great assortment of accessories that the brand has, especially the new Express bag.”

Attending a private dinner, Vikander wore a look that was unmistakably Italy-coded. “It felt natural to have the ‘La Dolce Vita’ moment in Venice with this Khaite linen dress adorned with a scarf in the hair,” says Sekrier.

For her first press day, Vikander opted for an all-black ensemble, wearing an off-the-shoulder Anine Bing top and black Toteme shorts and belt, Russel & Bromley shoes and her trusty Louis Vuitton sunglasses and bag. “This is another play on masculine vs feminine elements that really work for Alicia’s timeless and effortless style,” says Sekrier. “We really love the pairing of a sensual off-shoulder top with classic men’s style short. In fact we had the idea for these shorts but couldn’t find the pair this exact fit so we cut a pair of Toteme trousers into shorts. Sorry Elin!” She’s referring, of course, to Toteme designer Elin Kling, a longtime pal of Vikander’s.

Vikander’s first big Louis Vuitton moment in Venice came at The Wizard of the Kremlin photocall. “Nicolas Ghesquire is a visionary and is always ahead of the time – I will die on that hill,” says Sekrier. “We love this asymmetric medieval inspired dress that is both highly conceptual and very feminine. We opted for simple glam and minimal accessories to let it speak for itself.”

Premiere Look

At last, Vikander arrives on the red carpet in that show-stopping off-the-shoulder Louis Vuitton gown. “We wanted to create the new 'Old Hollywood' glamour moment with the premiere gown,” says Sekrier. “We love both the simplicity of the silhouette and the big impact through the voluminous sleeves of this gown. It is so well balanced and it fits Alicia like a glove accentuated only by the drop earrings and a statement ring. We wanted to keep the glam balanced too with simple silky shiny hair tucked behind the shoulder and the beautiful soft cat eye.” A look worthy of a standing O.
