Released today, Acne Studios x Kappa brings together football nostalgia and streetwear swagger, fronted by legendary British record producer and musician Tricky
If you listen very closely, you can hear the sound of thousands of cool kids madly tapping items to cart from the Acne Studios's new 22-piece capsule collection, designed in collaboration with nostalgia-ridden Italian sportswear giant Kappa.
“I have always loved Kappa. Rebels wear Kappa, which appeals to me,” says Jonny Johansson, Creative Director of Acne Studios. “In a world where the lines between classic workwear, streetwear, ready-to-wear and sportswear are blurred, it feels totally natural for Acne Studios to collaborate with Kappa on a collection that represents a modern way of dressing,” he goes on.

The collection serves up a blend of technical sportswear and Acne’s street-smart sensibility – think flame-printed football jerseys, track pants with logo taping, and sleek, second-skin tees. Denim makes an appearance in the form of pale-wash jeans, giving a nod to retro football kits while retaining Acne Studios' signature minimalist edge. The cherry on top? The Bowlina bag, reimagined with flame motifs and Kappa’s logo, and accessories that scream ‘sports luxe.’ Sneakers, knee-high socks, and even a baseball cap bring the whole collection together like a perfectly executed pass.
The campaign, featuring British record producer and musician Tricky – an iconic figure in the Bristol underground scene, a member of Massive Attack, and a key architect in the rise of trip-hop – heroes the '90s allure of the collection. Captured by photographer Jordan Hemingway and styled by Léopold Duchemin, the collaboration is intensified by Hemingway’s raw, powerful visual style, bringing the collection’s energy to life.
“Tricky’s music has had a real impact on my life. I’ve been a fan for a long time, and it just made sense to work with him for this project” says Jonny Johansson. “Great people – really fun day,” says Tricky, reflecting on the creative process behind the campaign. “I usually get nervous in a room full of people I don’t know - but they made it feel like family,” he adds.
