These were my first holidays away from home — yet I didn’t feel alone

Family is much more than just blood and genetics, it’s unspoken connections, shared moments and a series of inside jokes says our beauty editor

While Christmas is traditionally set to be spent with family, this year allowed me to open my eyes to a new type of family. One that wasn’t dictated by blood or genetics, rather than pure love, shared experiences and the good in the world.

I was gonna spend Christmas alone this year, or at least I was set or supposed to do so. I mean, that’s what happens when you move to a new country, where you know no one and have no family, right? As someone with a Latin upbringing, holidays mean family, no questions asked, no bargains accepted — and truth be told, it’s kinda nice. But, what happens when you have no biological family where you live?
